The Abbey Collective

The Abbey Collective is an emerging network of contemplative local worship communities—abbeys and priories—dispersed throughout the U.S. that are leaning into our shared way of life and common commitments.

What Is an Abbey?

An abbey operates as a local church expression of our shared life together, led by a member of the Order of the Common Life.

What Is a Priory?

We imagine priories as small house-church-size formation groups connected to the life of a local abbey’s leadership.

Who Are the Abbey Collective?

The Abbey Columbus, located on the west side of Columbus, Ohio, is the Abbey Collective’s founding abbey.

Today, we’re in regular conversation with several contemplative communities throughout the U.S. who are actively discerning membership and affiliation with the Abbey Collective.

The Work of the Abbey Collective

The Abbey Collective’s work is exploring how to address the need for local church expressions to lean into the contemplative life in order to plant, connect and develop spiritually healthy communities.

Because this work is iterative by nature, building on small efforts and experiments, we thrive in relationship with others who share our mission and values. If you’re interested in learning more about our work or partnering with us, we’d love to connect with you.
