Notice & Nurture the Love of God.

We’re reimagining religious vocations for the 21st century.

Our Mission

We’re reimagining monastic vocations.

The 21st-century world is searching for a way to give deep, meaningful and authentic shape to our lives. The problem is so many of us are doing it alone.

Here, we’re responding to an invitation to a common way of life—rooted in traditional monastic practices, lived in spiritual friendship and in service within the local church.

We develop communities that notice and nurture the work of God.

Our work is to join you and local churches in cultivating abundant lives around common commitments and practices that help us notice and nurture the work of God where we are. We believe we stand in a long tradition of religious orders who have helped the Church do this very thing. Some of the ways we do this include:

  • Communities of discernment

  • Spiritual direction

  • Spiritual friendship

Our Community

We invite many expressions of belonging.

Our common life and work are shared by:

  • Members pursuing commitments to journeying in our way of life (“the Order of the Common Life”)

  • Those who want to lean into our commitments in some form (“the Community of the Common Life”)

  • Participants of local worship communities in the Abbey Collective (“abbeys” and “priories”)

  • Spiritual directors and directors-in-training rooted in the monastic tradition and committed to the work of the local church (“the School of Formation”).

Many of our members are in shared cities, and others are spread out across the globe.

Our Rule of Life

Experience our rhythms and commitments.

Our way of life—formally known as a rule of life—which we practice whether in local communities or as dispersed individuals, is based in a rhythm of bodily labor, prayer, study and rest expressed around shared commitments to:

  • The contemplative life and spiritual direction

  • Simplicity

  • Formational healing

  • Consecration in marriage or celibacy

  • Shared work and economy

  • Hospitality and spiritual friendship

  • Expressing faults and affirmations

  • Service to the Church

Our Invitation

How can we companion you on your journey?

We want to help you notice and nurture the work of God in you, in those around you, and through you into the world. We’d love to know how we can partner with you in this.
